Website Blocked by A1 NetProtect? What It Means and How to Fix It

Visitors on A1 Macedonia see a "blocked" message instead of your site? Why it happens, how to tell if there is a real threat and how it gets resolved.

A customer tells you your website "doesn't open", yet it loads fine for you. It turns out only visitors on A1 mobile data are affected, and they see a message saying the site is blocked by A1 NetProtect. This is more common than it sounds, and it can almost always be resolved.

DC Creative Solutions is not affiliated with A1 Macedonia. A1 and NetProtect are trademarks of their respective owners. The final unblocking decision rests with the provider.

What A1 NetProtect is

A1 NetProtect is a network security filter the operator uses to protect users from malware, phishing and scam pages. It works at the network/DNS level, so the block only appears for users on that network, not everywhere.

Typical symptoms

Why a domain gets blocked

A block does not always mean the site is infected. The usual causes:

  1. A real compromise: hacked WordPress, injected JavaScript, malicious redirects or a phishing page hidden in uploads.
  2. A suspicious resource: a script, ad or file loaded from another, problematic domain.
  3. An old threat: the problem was removed, but the domain's classification was never updated.
  4. A DNS or SSL problem: wrong DNS records, an invalid certificate or incorrect routing.
  5. A misclassification (false positive): the site is clean but flagged as risky.

What to do right now

  1. Don't delete or change files blindly. You lose the evidence of what actually happened.
  2. Note which provider and which device shows the block, and take a screenshot.
  3. Check whether the site works on Wi-Fi, on another provider and with another DNS.
  4. On WordPress, look for unknown admin users or plugins you didn't install.

How we resolve it

We reproduce the block from several networks and DNS resolvers to pinpoint where it happens. Then we audit the site files, WordPress, the server, SSL, DNS and the domain's reputation. If there is a compromise, we remove it and close the gaps. If the site is clean, we prepare technical evidence and run the re-review request with the filter provider.

We can't promise instant unblocking, because that decision belongs to the provider. We do run the entire technical process and the communication needed for resolution.
